vRA 7.0.1 Machines can no longer be managed
Hello,
Today we noticed that the majority of our VMs can no longer be managed in vRA. When navigating to the machine details page from the Items tab, we receive the error "MachineID parameter missing". Those same VMs no longer show up under managed machines either. Indeed looking at the IaaS database, the isManaged field for these VMs in the VirtualMachine table are all set to 0.
I have run datacollection several times to try and refresh this, but to no avail. Has anyone else ever experienced this issue? vRA 7.0.1 is pretty much useless in this state. We cannot take snapshots, access the VM console, or power on/off our VMs, etc.
The last change we made was changing the data collection frequency for the state check from 15 minutes to 5 minutes.

Hi !
I have a crash with VM Linux started and without VM started.This is the same problem, with VM and without VM.
Frequency : Every time I start Workstation and leave in standby. I use another program et I will use again Workstation, the message "error ..." appear . I can use VM Linux but if I close message "error..." Workstation shutdown. And I must delete xxx.lck for use again my VM.

Maybe I didn't explain it right, but basically I want to evacuate the Host using DRS smarts without going into Maintenance mode. And it's not because of a feature not working its because my manager said I can't put a host in maintenance mode while Production servers are on it.

slow file transfer to FreeBSD VM
Hello,
We are experiencing extremely slow writes to a FreeBSD 10.3 VM running on an ESXi server [6.0.0, 2494585]. Physical hardware is on the VMWare compatibility list (HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen9 Server) There is a physical RAID controller (P440) with 4GB of cache (enabled) and 3 SSD drives in a RAID 5 configuration.
BSD VM has 4GB of ram, 2CPUs, LSI Parallel controller, E1000 Nic and open-vm-tools is installed.
When we attempt to copy a file over the network to a BSD VM from a physical machine on the same network the throughput is somewhere around 20 MB/s, however within a few seconds it drops to zero for several seconds (7 – 15 ) and then picks back up and stays around 10 – 15 MB/s
There are several post on the internet identifying the problem when ZFS is used on NFS, however our storage is local VMFS5. https://calvin.me/slow-vmware-nfs-zfs-add-zil/
The I/O performance test on a BSD Guest

0.000u 0.957s 0:01.59 59.7% 25+171k 0+0io 0pf+0wJust to rule Virtualization out, we built another BSD system, but on the physical hardware. File transfer from a physical Windows system to a BSD machine is consistent at 35MB/s with 0 drops. (both systems have SSD drives)
We also have a Win 2012 Server Guest running on the same ESXi server. Hardware assigned to the Windows box is the almost identical to the BSD guest, however ISCSI controller is paravirtual and the nic is VMXNET 3
Coping the test file to a Win 2012 VM from a physical machine is always rock solid at 115MB/s.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the delays / drops during the file copy on the BSD VM?
There is only 2 VMs on this ESXi Host and no resource allocation is configured. Iperf test between a physical Windows 7 and FreeBSD VM shows that the network is capable of transfers at 1GB/s
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Fatal Error 33 inconsistent data when loading tools.t00
I get the Fatal Error 33 when loading /tools.00
I am trying to install ESXi 6 on my server
I've tried formatting the drives on my server (new server, nothing on it to begin with)
I've tried formatting and reimaging my usb drive
I would assume there wouldn't be any wrong files, since i downloaded the iso image directly from the vsphere website.
any ideas?

I too had slow Windows 10 performance on OSX 10.11 Fusion 8. Any click or action would take several seconds to respond and often my VM would hang for minutes. It was unusable. Fortunately, I discovered that I had set the memory level for my VM way too high (Settings > Processors & Memory). I had it set somewhere near 14000 MB of 16384 MB of my total system memory. I was under the impression that allocating more memory to my VM would yield better performance, however, when I set it back closer to the recommended 2048 mb, all of my performance issues were gone. I guess the host OS is the one that needed more resources and not the VM. This, combined with some other recommended .vmx fixes, made my Windows 10 VM perform nicely!

Failed to send email for a triggered alarm
Hi,
I’m trying to configure email notification when something happen in my VMware infrastructure (version 5.5).
I configured SMTP server and sender account
But when alarm appear I have error:
"An error occurred while sending email notification of a triggered alarm
Failed to send email for a triggered alarm
Action: Check the vCenter Server SMTP settings for sending email notifications"
From SMTP server side looking into log I found that value "from" is different which I set in vSphere

Same problem with a Mushkin Reactor 1 TB installed on a ibm x3650 M3
VM on another SSD (OCZ Vertex 3) are ok
but for VM on the Mushkin SSD, sometimes, the Vms are no longer accessible and I also need to reboot !! th problem appears when for example I installed application on VM, or When I install new OS.
I am also on VMware vSphere 6
Do you still have the issue ?

We now think that its vmware tools, That somehow got messed up. however i still havent been able to fix it yet.
- Other VMs that the dock is plugged into also exhibit this behaviour on other hosts.
- a non upgraded VM (vmwaretools), with brand new server 2012 does not have the problem. Even after i install the latest vmware tools.
- took esx all the way back to 6.0 release and the VM still could not mount the drives and have them stay mounted.
- changed usb 3.0 hardware card from ETRON to as??? something. no change in behaviour
- One single drive in the dock works fine.
- 2 docks connected to separate USB ports does not.
- tried obviously uninstalling and reinstalling vmware tools, and even completely uninstalling it, however i think some remnants remain because i can still seemlessly mouse into the VM. I dont see any way to completely install all of vmware tools, even the /c switch does not seem to get it so that my mouse is trapped in the VM.
Its like any time two external drives are connected in any configuration, they just disconnect reconnect over and over again.
I would just simply abandon this problematic VM, however it has a bunch of configuration on it that may be time consuming to duplicate. Also the problem my come back again and i should have a resolution imho.

vmxnet3 getting deleted from windows 2012 running server
Hi team, Please suggest , we have windows 2k12 with vmxnet3 installed in esxi5.5 frequently it is showing that network adater is deleted and vm is worjking . we are facing issue on dell server with broadcom network not on intel even we have got the log related to hot plug in , and in some vm we have done registry setting also , please suggest if any
