I upgraded to VM Pro 8.5 and am running Windows 8.1 in a virtual machine under Mac El Capitan. It seems that, all of a sudden, a number of apps (e.g. Snagit 11, Visual Studio 2013 and 2015) will not start and crash (fault in KERNELBASE.DLL).

I tried to reinstall VMWare Tools but the installation always fails and tells me that the process could not automatically install the SVGA drivers, I will have to install them manually. How can I do that? No matter what I do those apps continue to crash. I have thought of completely uninstalling Tools and then reinstalling but I tried that on another 8.1 VM and now I can't use it as it is completely unresponsive to mouse clicks.

What would be the best way to rectify this situation?

The restore defaults feature did not work for me. Ultimately, I uninstalled workstation, preserving license and configuration settings. Rebooted, then reinstalled with 12.5 and the network adapter was visible by Workstation. Weird.

This problem is likely because the DMG is mounted and we're asking to mount it again.

Easy fix, try one of the three:

- Reboot the Mac

- Use the command line:

hdiutil detach /Volumes/Mac \OS \X \Install

- Use Disk Utility to unmount the volume

I'm trying to design a Horizon 7 environment and they dropped the 'I want true sso also' on me today and they are using smart cards. All the docs and articles mention setting up vIDM and SAML to use with true sso - Do I NEED vIDM or can I just setup the CA, Enrollment, ConnServers and utilize that for true SSO or do I NEED to have the vIDM and SAML setup and configured for this to work?

I am using the latest UI vib from 9-16-2016 under ESXi 5.0:

Everything worked for months (I've been using the earlier versions). One day the ESXi rebooted and now I am getting the dreaded 503 error. This was definitively NOT as a result of an upgrade or any change. The vib has been working fine. This is most defenitely as a result of the reboot but now I am stuck? Nothing that I can see could have changed and the ESXi functions normally - no red flags except for the 503 error? And no it isn't the "/ui/" thing - I've known about it since day one

Any suggestions? Thank you

So I have a questions on this setup, although View 7 supports the one way trust I'm curious about the Connection Server in Domain B.

If I have the following and Domain B Trusts Domain A - do I need a connection server in Domain B? if so, why?

Domain A

- Connection Server

- Composer Server

- vCenter Server

Domain B - (Deploy desktops here)

- Created a separate View Composer account

I also have this issue in VMware Workstation Pro 12.5.0. I tried to collect the support data from Help > Support > Collect Support data, but it failed. The progress bar disappeared about 1/4 of the way through the Collecting host OS support data progress bar. No .zip file was created.

I then ran vm-support.vbs from an elevated command-prompt, and got an error:

Is the lack of any vmnet*.* files the issue?

I can't downgrade to 12.1.1 as there is a critical security vulnerability in that version, fixed by 12.5.0.

Perhaps issue a 12.1.2 as an interim so that we can continue using VMware Workstation?

Restoring defaults has not fixed the issue for me. I have to use NAT, which is less than desirable.

Hi,

Can anyone please confirm if using vSphere Standard Edition License, enables the Customer to create virtual machines of 12 or more vCPUs as was the case in previous edition (vSphere 5.5) or still it requires vSphere Enterprise Plus edition?

Thank you for link. Some jems i see here. Let's go further. How to get all report definitions and then cycle through them for report generation?

I can get all Report Templates with

$repdefs=Invoke-RestMethod-MethodGet-uri"https://vrops-hvm.corp.local/suite-api/api/reportdefinitions"-Credential$cred

But for each given Report i must give new $Body in Invoke-RestMethod because of different object, for which report will be generated.

And also i don't want clear out all generated reports, but download only last generated report. How can i do it?

Hi nlk10010,

Welcome to Fusion Community.

These type of issues are almost always due to a broken VMware Tools install.Do not try a repair install from within the OS as it likely will not fix this.

Try to restart it from menu

follow these steps:

Uninstall VMware Tools

Reboot guest OS

Install VMware Tools

Reboot guest OS.

Hope it can be helpful, if still doesn't work. please let me know

I installed an nsx edge on a uplink dvport group mapped to a physical vlan. but I cannot ping it.

any idea? how do I test if its working?

If you want to get the subnets to access outside world like Internet, then you may want to deploy ESG (Edge Service Gateway) first.

The ESG (Edge Service Gateway) can act as a multi-service gateway that provides routing, firewall, NAT, etc services for your virtualized network.

You can use your transit segment to connect between your DLR and the ESG, and then establish IP routing between them over the transit segment.

You may also want to check the topology that I have built/tested before to give you some ideas at http://blog.ipcraft.net/a-multi-tenant-topology-in-vmware-nsx/

THis VMware blog posting says it's now possible to have seamless apps (aka Unity) via the VMware Horizon Client for Mac. However, it's not very clear as to what is required to get this to work. Does anyone know the details? I've already checked the Client release notes and documentation, but found no information there.

I didn't post this in the View Client for Mac section because the content there is very stale.
